PHOENIX (August XX, 2021) – Desert Financial Credit Union will open its first branch in Yavapai County on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Prescott Valley Fry’s Food & Drug located at 3100 N. Glassford Hill Road in Prescott Valley.

Desert Financial will celebrate the grand opening of its 47th location, with a month of giving in Prescott Valley and Prescott. The credit union plans to donate $40,000 to local organizations throughout the month of September as part of its celebration.

The branch, which will employ seven full-time employees, will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays. It will be closed on Sundays.
“When you open a free checking account with Desert Financial there are no monthly service fees and no minimum balances,” says Miles Kastner, Desert Financial Credit Union Prescott Valley branch manager. “You also become part of a local movement focused on sharing its success within our community. We are so excited to help people here in Prescott Valley.”

Desert Financial Credit Union has contributed nearly $60,000 in donations and sponsorships to Yavapai County organizations in the first eight months of 2021. Contributions have been made to the Prescott Unified School District, Humboldt Unified School District, Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce, Prescott Chamber of Commerce, Town of Prescott Valley, Yavapai College Foundation and St. Vincent de Paul.

In addition, Desert Financial branch employees will receive paid time off after its opening to participate in community service projects that are meaningful to them.

The Prescott Valley branch is the first of several Desert Financial branches planned for northern Arizona. The credit union, which is the largest in the state of Arizona, has plans for additional branch openings in Prescott and Flagstaff during 2022.

Desert Financial was founded by 15 educators in 1939. Together they launched a credit union just for teachers that has evolved into one of the Valley's most recognizable brands. With a statewide charter, today anyone who works, worships or lives in Arizona (with the exception of Apache, Graham, Greenlee and Santa Cruz counties) is eligible to join Desert Financial Credit Union.
