Tax Credits: Employee Retention CreditThe Employee Retention Credit is a fully refundable tax credit for employers equal to 50 percent of qualified wages (including allocable qualified health plan expenses) that Eligible Employers pay their employees. The employer portion of the payroll tax will not be required to be paid through January 1, 2021. Instead, these taxes will be paid in two equal installments, with the first installment due December 31, 2021, and the second due December 31, 2022.

Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated #350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the the Paycheck Protection Program, the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses who maintain their payroll during this emergency.

Express Bridge LoanThe EBL Pilot Program authorizes SBA Express Lenders to provide expedited SBA-guarenteed bridge loan financing on an emergency basis in amounts up to $25,000 for disaster-related purposes to small businesses. EBL loans can only be made up to six months after the date of an applicable Presidential Disaster Declaration. For the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration, EBL loans can be approved through March 13, 2021.

SBA Debt ReliefThe Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides immediate relief to small businesses with SBA (a), 504, and micro loans. For existing borrowers, SBA will cover all loan payments on these SBA loans, including principal, interest, and fees, for six months. This relief will also be available to new borrowers who take out loans within six months of the enactment of the CARES ACT.
