North of Lonesome is an Arizona-based bluegrass band with deep roots in traditional bluegrass music. The North of Lonesome band is also known to veer off into grassed-up soft rock and blues, to the edge of folk and old-time music–but always with that bluegrass vibe. You’ll find yourself humming and swaying to the growing list of songs they’ve written for themselves. So, wax up your mustache, grab your sweetie, and be ready to dance.
Band Members:
Scott Lewis
Resonator Guitar and Vocals
Scott’s Facebook member summary reads: “There are no active restrictions on Scott.” Pretty much sums it up.
Alan Rocco Lister
Guitar and Vocals
Alan plays the guitar–but what you’ll notice most about him is that he can really, really sing. Alan wrote the band’s favorite waltz, “Somewhere Tonight.” He’s all about bluegrass and classic country.
Kate Fox
Bass and Vocals
Kate sings a little and writes a little, but she’s happiest when she can just stand in the back and thump on that old Kay bass of hers. She’s also been known to play the autoharp in public.
Mike Seymour
Mandolin
Yup, he’s a mystery to us, too–but he sure can play that thing.
Luke Stecklein
Banjo and Vocals
Hailing from the great state of Texas, Luke discovered the five-string banjo while studying engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Luke met the pickers of North of Lonesome shortly after moving to the Valley and joined the band in early 2024. Did we mention that he’s the 2024 Arizona State Banjo Champion?
