Through this amazing program, 20 high school seniors from across the county will:
  • Receive over 40 hours of professional development training
  • Serve 300 hours in local schools, impacting elementary and middle school youth
  • Earn a monetary AmeriCorps education award

The 2021 - 2022 Student Ambassadors will also help fill a gap in a present-day teacher shortage:
“Everyone involved with this is excited about launching these students into our profession in a time when ‘growing your own’ teachers is probably the most effective response to a nationwide teacher shortage. This is a win for everyone,” said Superintendent, Joe Howard, of Prescott Unified School District.

Granite Creek Park Pump Track Upgrade - 2021

We need your help! Please donate or become a sponsor!
The existing Prescott Pump Track is located within the Granite Creek Park. Its location makes it easily accessible to all who live in the growing Prescott metro area, and near to a diverse area of kids and families. Pump track design has evolved with new ideas for flow and progressive features which is lacking in our existing track.
The plan is to turn this conveniently accessible location into a place where families and people of all ages come to have fun. We plan to accomplish this by upgrading the current pump track. We received approval from the city to upgrade and expand the area from .18 acres to .23 acres. It will include something for riders of all abilities: a flow lane, a jump lane and a separate kid’s area.
Having this upgraded pump track at Granite Creek Park will attract more families to the area and improve the overall feel of the park.

Benefits of a pump track.

  • Promote a healthy lifestyle especially to children and teenagers.
  • Have a place where all ages and skill levels can learn and practice mountain biking together.
  • Fun for the whole family.

Now In Arizona: Hope Delivered Every 10 Seconds

By all accounts, Arizona has had a rough time through the COVID-19 pandemic. A staggering loss of more than 15,000 Arizonans, punctuated by devastating economic and mental health impacts, left our state reeling.

Vaccinations mean that hope is here, and Arizona’s recovery has been jumpstarted with one of the highest-volume, 24/7 vaccination sites in the country at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. With more than 8,000 vaccines administered every day…about one every 10 seconds…Arizonans have come together in a colossal act of love.

This is exactly why, when state leaders called on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona to get involved in early January, we said “yes.” In less than two weeks, we mobilized our team to join the single largest and most important public health effort our nation has seen during the pandemic. We mobilized to assist. We mobilized to serve. And most importantly, we mobilized to deliver hope.

We anticipated the huge effort, and are humbled to be part of this highly effective public-private partnership. What we did not anticipate was how much we would be touched by witnessing the absolute best of humanity in action. Thousands of individuals, most of whom are volunteers, have worked around the clock to help administer a dose of hope to more than 300,000 Arizonans in less than six weeks.

At Visiting Angels of Northern Arizona, our care specialists (caregivers) are everything to our clients – and to us. Each month the team votes for the Shining Star of the month. The angel that goes above and beyond. At the end of the year, those 12 shining stars are voted on by the staff and input from our clients. For 2020 the Care Specialist of the Year is Mary Taylor from the greater Prescott region.

These are a few comments from Mary’s clients. “Mary is such a joy and so inspiring especially when I am having a challenging day”. Another client told us, “If Jesus had decided to select women as his 12 apostles, Mary would certainly be one of the chosen 12”. And finally, this client stated, “Mary was with us for almost two years. She became a friend and a family member not only to me but the entire family”.

Mary goes on to compete nationally with the other 600 locations of Visiting Angels for the coveted award. Mary received a $1000.00 check from Katrina Poole Care Director and Larri Lyn Stell Care Leader for Visiting Angels of Northern Arizona.

The Caregiver of the Year is to recognize a caregiver from a Visiting Angels franchise location who demonstrates extraordinary commitment to their clients, families, and the Visiting Angels mission. Visiting Angels of Northern Arizona salutes Mary and all the Care Specialists around the country who assist others with empathy, compassion, dignity and instill hope in their clients and their families.

The Prescott Chamber of Commerce recently had the pleasure of partnering with someone in our community, Glenn Haselfeld, to reward our firefighters at Station 71 with gift certificates they can redeem at local businesses. This was the second presentation in the pilot project and we are happy to report successful results!
The total amount fundraised from our community reached $1,200 to give $25 gift certificates to each of our local firefighters. We thank everyone that donated in our community and give our thanks to the wonderful firefighters who continue to save our people and our homes.
