Government

Government BuildingPrescott’s City Council stands as its legislative body, overseeing the operations of the city government, as well as setting policy. The City Council is comprised of a Mayor and six Council members, elected at-large, and an appointed City Manager. The governing body of Prescott is dedicated to providing superior services, a financially stable environment and innovative leadership. Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the first four Tuesdays of the month at 3:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend these regular meetings, and may also view the meetings on cable access Channel 13.

Facilitating Prescott’s safe living is the City Police Department, comprised of a Chief, 71 sworn officers and 20 civilian officers. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department also plays a significant role in the welfare of Prescott residents and businesses. The department is equipped with 143 certified law enforcement officers and more than 1,000 active volunteers. Adding to the security of Prescott is the City’s Fire Department, which is composed of 58 firefighters, a 22-member Hot Shot crew, and 15 support personnel working out of five stations.
