The opportunity to purchase the 40-year-old Worm fulfilled a lifelong dream for these four friends who are all avid readers. Plans include a book club for other readers at the shop.

On September 25th, new business owners were presented to City Council. Far left: John Phillips of Park Plaza Liquor & Deli, located two blocks west of the Courthouse Plaza at 402 W. Goodwin. Park Plaza features wood-fired pizza, delicious sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, soups, salads, wings, and pastries. The store also delivers both food and liquor. Center to right: Patricia Ellsworth, Diane Morey and Judy Riggenback are the proud new owners of The Worm Bookstore, 128 S. Montezuma, which has provided reading experiences on Whiskey Row since 1968. Everyone is invited to stop by and check out the vast selection of titles and categories. They also plan to start a book club that will meet regularly at the shop.

The ribbon-cutting at Lowe’s in November marked two notable events: the official opening of the city’s newest store and a very special presentation ceremony. Surrounded by Ambassadors and new Councilwoman Lora Lopas, store manager Jeff Stogner cut the ribbon and then presented the Boys and Girls Club of Central Yavapai with a check from Lowe’s for $1,000 toward their building fund. |
